Although we only moved to the Lake District 7 years ago, my husband and I have quickly become involved in the life of our local community and have been totally beguiled by this beautiful place. I am never happier than when out of doors, walking or running, especially if accompanied by my dogs. My interest in the natural environment and local history are well rewarded in the area and I currently work at Brantwood House on Coniston Water

I joined Colton Parish Council in July, having moved to the Rusland valley four years ago. Now retired from a career as a teacher, having previously worked in out-door pursuits, residential care, a factory and on farms in Kent when younge,. I’m proud to say as a “Kentish Man” I helped bring the hop harvest home.
Having fallen in love with the Lakes whilst at Lancaster University, many holidays and friends made in the Crake valley meant for Sue and I our dream move had to be to this area. Despite being “off comers” we have been welcomed into the community. I was invited to join the Rusland show committee within three weeks of moving in and am on the Lowick show’s also. Joining the council is a thank you and a way of helping people and protecting a very special place. I have been struck by how all the people I have met on the council, from the national park etc are motivated by the same intentions. Issues are complex (more so than I realized) but people are trying to do the right thing.
I enjoy walking and sport, Tennis, Golf, Fishing and Football ( not walking yet!).
I love nature and the environment, so you may well see me walking on Bethacar Moor or footpaths about when delivering the Crake valley News letter in the area or frequenting one of the local hostilities. I’m also participating in the Keswick to Barrow walk this year so support would be very much appreciated!
